Litonya White

My education will help me make my community a better place by preparing me to serve underserved communities through healthcare. I plan to pursue a career as a physician, preferably a general surgeon, because I want to help people who don’t always have access to quality healthcare. I have personally experienced the barriers made due to lack of proper medical care in my home country, Jamaica. Seeing how difficult it was for many families to receive timely treatment showed me the importance of accessible healthcare. So many lives are lost due to lack of funds and limited access to medical facilities and professionals in certain locations. These experiences opened my eyes to how deep the inequality in health care runs, and how much it can affect entire communities.

As a Public Health major on a pre-med track, I am learning not only about health, but also about social factors that affect a person’s health. This education will help me better understand the challenges that different communities face and prepare me to properly advocate for patients who face these challenges.

Receiving this scholarship would support me by reducing the financial stress that comes with college expenses like books, tuition, and transportation. It would allow me to focus more on my education, volunteer work, and preparing for my future career instead of worrying as much about finances. In addition, this scholarship would motivate me to continue pursuing my goals. Knowing that there is an organization that aligns with my goals and supports my ambition would encourage me to continue working hard as the work becomes increasingly difficult.

Ultimately, I am committed to using my education to support underserved communities and this scholarship would allow me to give my undivided attention towards this goal and continue working towards becoming a physician who provided accessible healthcare to those who need it the most.

believe that I am a blessing to my family, and they are also a blessing to me.

My family,

especially my mom and dad

always embrace my interests, such as dancing, drawing,

styling and last but not least, my academics.

I am eleven years old and I currently attend Genesis Montessori Gifted Academy

where I am an A- honor roll student. Genesis Montessori has also contributed to my

character building, making me a product of the 7 Habit of healthy kids and fostering a

Growth Mindset. I love my school because they do not only think about academics, but

they think about the whole child. My favorite subject is social studies because it teaches

me about self and the world we live in.

My hobbies are dancing, drawing, and styling my

own outfits, I also enjoy travelling with my family and wish we could vacation every year.

In the future, my dad promises to design a clothing line for me because of my

interest in styling. My dream is to become an attorney in the future this fueled because I

am told that I am very argumentative. I have big dreams for my future, and I will depend on

God to help me to accomplish them. This dream includes me owning my favorite vehicle,

the G-Wagon Mercedes. I believe that my potential is unlimited and will continue to crave excellence in all I do.

About Us

What is People Profile ?

People Profile is an exercise interviewing individuals to find their  extraordinary, mission-enhancing stories. These stories represent a  powerful way to communicate and motivate others. It can come from not  only reasoned argument, but argument bolstered by compelling, 1st-person  testimony that advances one’s struggles and interest. People telling  their own stories can move mountains, and all kinds of people can benefit from harnessing the power of true experience stories,  such as that provided by People Profile. We intend to bring people’s  true, personal stories to the world so that we can educate  and enrich the lives of those we serve, community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for our volunteers.

Our Philosophy
