Colin Smith
Colin Barrington Smith is a celebrated Jamaican cultural ambassador, visual artist, and musician whose decades-long dedication to preserving Jamaican heritage has earned him international acclaim. A former building inspector honored for professional excellence, Colin is best known for founding the Tallawah Mento Band and directing the Jamaican Folk Revue and Louise Bennett-Coverley Heritage Council. His vibrant artwork and passionate advocacy for traditional music and arts have enriched communities across Jamaica, the U.S., and beyond. In 2022, he was awarded the Badge of Honor for Meritorious Service by the Jamaican Government, and he continues to lead cultural initiatives, including participation in the prestigious PANAFEST in Ghana. With over 30 years of dedication to the music industry, Joanna has gracefully woven her talents across production, performance, marketing, and mentorship, becoming a pillar of creative excellence and cultural preservation.
Discovered by reggae legend Clint O’Neil, her journey began with the breakout singles “Single Girl” and “I’m So Thankful,” earning her regional acclaim. Her groundbreaking 1994 album Simply Irresistibleintroduced the first Spanish reggae song aired on Jamaican radio, affirming her as a trailblazer in the genre. Her “DI JUGGLIN” compilation series has become a celebrated platform for emerging and established reggae voices, showcasing her curatorial brilliance and deep love for the craft.
A true matriarch of music, Joanna Marie continues to inspire through her powerful voice, unwavering passion, and commitment to elevating others. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and a U.S. Navy veteran of Desert Storm, Ronald Surin is an accomplished attorney, community leader, and advocate. He holds degrees in Political Science and Law, and has served as Managing Partner at the Law Offices of Champagne and Surin, P.A. since 1999, specializing in immigration, personal injury, and real estate law. A passionate voice for immigrants’ rights and the Haitian-American community, he has held leadership roles in several civic and professional organizations and is active in ministry, legal education, and community service. He is a proud husband of Shebella Poitier and father to Ronalda, Shenelle and Ronald II
Patrick 'Jackie' Walters
Patrick "Jackie" Walters is a legendary Jamaican football coach with over 51 years of excellence in developing young talent and winning titles. Renowned for his work at both schoolboy and club levels, he has secured 22 schoolboy championships—including four Oliver Shields with three different schools—and 10 club-level titles. Most notably, he led Jamaica’s U-17 team to its historic first FIFA World Cup qualification in 1999. Beyond the accolades, Walters is celebrated for his dedication to shaping not just athletes, but strong, disciplined individuals, earning him a revered place in Jamaica’s football history.
Eugene Grey
Eugene Grey is an internationally acclaimed Jamaican guitarist, composer, and music educator, celebrated for his genre-blending jazz-reggae style and decades-long contributions to global music. A masterful performer since age 14, he has toured and recorded with icons such as Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, and The Wailers, and has served as musical director and arranger for theater productions and notable artists like Denroy Morgan and Irving Burgie. As co-founder of the nonprofit Rootz of Music, Grey champions free music education for underserved youth and preservation of Jamaican musical heritage. Aligned with the roots of Working Class Music, Paul’s sound resonates with authenticity and power, echoing across global platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and Deezer. His music is not just heard—it is felt, weaving stories of resilience, love, and liberation that uplift and inspire all who listen.
Everton Hanson
Everton “DJ Ever Never” Hanson is a longtime staple of Broward County’s entertainment scene, with nearly 50 years of experience as a dynamic and genre-transcending DJ. Renowned for his mastery of music and deep passion for entertainment, he has built a lasting reputation as both a skilled performer and cultural promoter. His ability to connect with audiences across generations makes him a respected and influential figure in the world of music and event promotion.
Zemroy Lewis
Zemroy Lewis, a gifted musician and dynamic business entrepreneur, is best known for his powerful contributions to the acclaimed Code Red Band—one of South Florida’s premier reggae groups. A cornerstone of the local music scene, Zemroy has captivated audiences on countless stages with his talent and passion. Deeply rooted in the cultural heartbeat of reggae, he is also proudly connected to the Reggae Genealogy Festival, a celebration of the rich legacy and vibrant spirit of reggae music and culture.
Simeon Stewart
Simeon “Bobo” Stewart. Is a founding member of the 1980’s Sagitarius Band. A highly recognized and successful musician who has been in the industry for almost 50 years. Countless Legendary reggae songs will show his participation as a keyboard player. Backing and touring with great Artists like Dennis Brown, Frankie Paul, Eek a mouse, Admiral Bailey, Michigan and Smiley and most recently he managed the legendary dancehall singer, King Yellowman.
Ricky Wade
Ricky Wade is a successful McDonald’s franchisee, operating thirty restaurants across Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie Counties. His strong business acumen is evident in his ability to manage a large franchise network while maintaining deep community engagement. As Vice President of the South Florida Marketing Association and an active board member of several major organizations, Mr. Wade combines strategic leadership with a commitment to social impact, making him a standout figure in both business and civic circles.
Abbey Ajayi
Abbey Ajayi made history as Broward County’s first Constitutional Tax Collector. She was sworn in to establish the office in January 2025 after leading tax services at the County for close to a decade. Before being called to public service, Abbey worked for more than 30 years in the banking and financial service industry, during which time she was a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Junior Achievement and Oakland Park Kiwanis Club, among others. Abbey is a Florida Department of Revenue Certified Collector. She is an active member of the Florida Tax Collector’s Association and has an MBA from Florida Atlantic University. Abbey envisions the Broward County Tax Collector’s Office as a place where services are delivered with integrity, efficiency and transparency, ensuring a community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed

Jean Russell is a dynamic entrepreneur, philanthropist, social worker, and healthcare professional whose life is rooted in service, compassion, and impact. A Columbia University graduate in Business Management, she has not only excelled in business but also made waves promoting reggae concerts across the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean. Cleon A. James, a native of Jamaica, is an award-winning film writer, director, and producer, and the founder of Top Notch Vision Films. Since debuting his first film Blood Shed in 2006, he has produced seven thought-provoking films, including Facing Reality, Green Card, and Unbelievable (2024), featuring Spragga Benz. A Cambridge College graduate, Cleon is known for creating impactful, relatable stories that inspire, educate, and entertain—earning honors like Boston’s Most Elite and the Malcolm X Humanitarian Award. Ms. Monica Cepero, a Cuban American born in Puerto Rico, brings over 32 years of experience in state and local government to her role as County Administrator of Broward County—the 17th largest county in the U.S. As Chief Executive Officer, she oversees a $7.8 billion budget, nearly 7,000 employees, and key operations including the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. Her extensive public service career includes advising Governor Jeb Bush and holding leadership roles in the City of Tallahassee.
Yolanda Cash Jackson

Donovan Campbell
Donovan Campbell, a South Florida native and Broadcast Journalism graduate of Florida International University, joined WSVN in January 2007, just before Super Bowl XLI. His career began at ESPN as a production assistant, followed by on-air sports anchor roles in Texas, including Dallas’ CW33. A U.S. Army veteran and proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Donovan combines journalistic excellence with a deep love for sports, family, and community. In his spare time Donovan enjoys working out, and spending time with his lovely wife and three kids.
Reggie Holt
Reginald “Reggie” Holt is a former standout student-athlete from North Miami Senior High who went on to become a record-setting defensive back at the University of Wisconsin, where he helped lead the team to a 1994 Rose Bowl victory. After playing professionally with the Green Bay Packers and London Monarchs, Reggie returned to Florida to coach and mentor youth through the Miami Northwest Express Track Club, co-founded by his father. Now leading the club with his brothers, Reggie continues to shape future champions and remains dedicated to community service, youth development, and athletic excellence alongside his wife, Yvette, and their children.
Coach Keith Davis
Coach Keith Davis’ journey began in the serene village of Vermont in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and blossomed into a lifelong love affair with soccer. From playing in England and New York to earning his first professional paycheck in the Italian league, his talent and dedication shone brightly. After settling in Florida with his family, Coach Keith poured his heart into mentoring young athletes through the Lauderhill Lions Soccer Club for over four decades. Soccer has been his compass, his therapy, and his gift to the community—shaping lives, inspiring futures, and nurturing stars like U.S. Olympian Shaq Moore. Through every chapter, Coach Keith remains a beacon of passion, discipline, and unwavering purpose.
Torey Alston
Torey Alston became President and CEO of Broward College in February 2025, bringing over 20 years of leadership across government, education, and public service. A Broward County native, Alston’s deep roots and professional experience—from leading billion-dollar agencies to serving as a FAMU trustee and Broward County Commissioner—inform his commitment to academic excellence and community empowerment. He is focused on boosting enrollment, strengthening faculty and staff development, expanding government partnerships, and honoring the rich legacy of Broward College. A dedicated family man and lifelong learner, Alston’s vision is to make Broward College a top destination for higher education.
Lealani Ferron
Lealani Ferron, a distinguished graduate of the College Academy at Broward College, earned both her high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree at just 17, graduating with an impressive 5.24 GPA. A committed leader and advocate, she co-founded Touch of Hope, served in multiple honor societies, and received national recognition as a QuestBridge Finalist and Gates Scholarship Semifinalist. Passionate about neuroscience, Lealani has shadowed physicians, volunteered in neurology, and will attend Florida State University on a full scholarship, majoring in behavioral neuroscience and joining the elite WIMSE program—continuing her path toward becoming a neurosurgeon.

Dean Reid is a dedicated student at the University of Florida, pursuing a B.S. in Computer Engineering, whose deep passion for programming and software development has flourished since childhood. His technical curiosity is matched by a generous spirit—Dean actively volunteers in community outreach and youth education programs, sharing both his time and talents. Eager to gain hands-on, team-driven experience, he brings a blend of technical ambition and heartfelt community commitment to every opportunity he embraces.
